The Association for the Rehabilitation of the Physically Disabled (ARPD)

is a nonprofit organization based in Peshawar, Pakistan, committed to transforming lives through comprehensive rehabilitation, inclusive education, vocational training, and community relief. Originally founded in 1986 by Dr. Farhat Rahman, ARPD was revitalized in 2015 under the leadership of Ms. Anjum Anwar—a compassionate leader and tireless advocate for vulnerable and impoverished communities. After spending many years in the United States, Ms. Anwar returned to Pakistan deeply moved by the struggles faced by marginalized individuals and communities. Determined to bring lasting change, she established Helping Hearts, Caring Souls (HHCS), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the U.S. Under her guidance, HHCS became the primary fundraising partner for ARPD. ARPD is formally registered under Pakistan’s Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance (1961), recognized as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) by the Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and authorized by the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) to receive foreign funding. Together, HHCS and ARPD uphold a shared vision: to create a more inclusive, dignified, and empowered future for all.

We exist to transform lives and are driven by a commitment to social justice. Our goal is to empower deserving individuals by providing them with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to lead lives of dignity, independence, and inclusion.
